As part of the Athene Award for Good Teaching 2023, the KGBauko Institute received the ‘Special Award for Digital Teaching’, endowed with 5,000 euros, for organising the first Darmstadt digital student conference on the topic of ‘Green Building Design: Teaching Concepts and Academic Continuing Education’.

The Athene Prizes, which were awarded by the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation on Wednesday, 22 November 2023, recognise the special importance of academic teaching at TU Darmstadt.

The award-winning student conference of the course“Green Building Design II” was organised digitally on three dates in the summer semester 2023 and served as an international compact symposium

for students interested in sustainable and energy-efficient buildings. Our research assistant Le Thi Kieu, M.Sc. presented key findings from the ‘Green Building Design II’ course at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and ‘Green Building Design’ at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) with a focus on the trend towards sustainable construction.

The international students from various departments at TU Darmstadt, the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) and the Unite! University presented their findings and exchanged views on their topics in discussions.

We are delighted to have been honoured with the Special Digital Teaching Award and would like to thank our teaching staff for their commitment.

Back in the summer, the conference was recognised by the TUDa – Office for Sustainability as a great opportunity from which international participants can benefit.
